The Story of 5th Generation Meat Company
1957: Kenneth Jehne opened Big J’s Meats
1961: Kenneth’s daughter married Dave Mathews
1980: Dave had mastered the trade and Barstow Country Meats was born
2000-2020: Edward Mathews (Dave’s son) took over the business, renaming it Barstow Country Butchering and his children became part of the business.
2021: The business moved to Apple Valley, CA
2022: Expansion began, now involving Edward’s grandchildren and the 5th Generation Meat Company was born.
